What is a Christian Science practitioner?
Christian Science practitioners are individuals who are self-employed, who have completed a course in spiritual healing given by an authorized teacher of Christian Science, and who devote themselves full time to helping and healing others through prayer. While practitioners do not offer counseling, diagnosis, prognosis, or any physical manipulation or treatment, they do offer Christian Science treatment—as explained in Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
When a person is in the midst of a crisis or a challenge (be it physical, emotional, financial, or other) it is sometimes difficult for them to keep their own thought uplifted, and therefore in harmony with God, divine goodness, the healing Principle that brings life into harmony and wholeness. A Christian Science Practitioner is a person who has been trained in using, and is experienced in applying, the spiritual, metaphysical healing techniques and prayer that were used by the ancient biblical prophets, taught by Jesus, and explained by Mary Baker Eddy in her primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. A practitioner will pray or provide Christian Science Treatment with you, or for you, until your situation is healed or you are ready to continue treatment yourself by further uplifting your consciousness on your own.
