What is a “chip-key” also known as a Transponder key and how do i know if i have one???
This is just your FACTORY KEY (not remote) that is special because it contains a hidden micro-chip inside and prevents the car from running. In order for us to install a remote starter, we often take a key from you and install it inside the remote start under your dash OR (on most cars) copy the keys microchip with a digital device. We normally can tell by looking at the key if it has this option, but your car DEALER will also be able to help you identify it.
