What is a certified registered nurse anesthetist?
A. A certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) is a nurse that has a bachelors degree in nursing (RN) with critical care experience who has completed a two year nurse anesthetist program. They must also be certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists to become a CRNA. Your CRNA will be under the supervision of an anesthesiologist that will not leave the proximity of the OR suites when a patient is in his/her care.
