What is a central line access? What is it used for?
A mediport is a circular device, surgically implanted underneath the skin, with a rubber area on top that can be accessed with a special needle. These vary in size and there can be as many as 2 ports. A PICC line is a long IV catheter placed in either arm feeding into a large blood vessel. The PICC line can have 1 to 3 ports of access.
