What is a cash advance check?

0

A cash advance check is a cash disbursement that is based on an anticipated financial aid credit. Student Financial Services advances money to all registered students whose approved financial aid credits (grants, loans, and outside scholarships) exceed the charges on their billing accounts (tuition, health service fees, etc). When processing an advance check, we take all of the credits approved for the semester, whether disbursed or not, and subtract all of the current charges for the semester. If the difference results in a credit balance, we then issue a check payable to the student for this amount. This is an automatic process; no application/request form is required.
