What is a canopy?
A canopy is an architectural projection that provides weather protection, identity or decoration an is supported by the building to which it is attached and at the outer end by not less than one stanchion/upright support post. A canopy is comprised of a lightweight frame structure over which a cover is attached.
A ceiling canopy is a round metal plate that covers the junction box in the ceiling. The junction box, or electrical box, is where the electrical wires originate from. The junction box is where you will connect the wires to the cordset, and also where the ceiling canopy will attach to to support the light.
