What is a candlelight Alcoholics Anonymous meeting?
My local newspaper runs a listing every week of all the 12-step meetings in the area. One lists itself as a “candlelight” meeting. What is a candlelight AA meeting and what goes on there? A candlelight A.A. Meeting is one that is conducted by candlelight. The lights are turned off and the meeting is held by candlelight instead. The idea of the candlelight is to help people to feel more comfortable in talking about any issues or problems they may be wishing to talk about. It is to help them open-up and feel less intimidated about talking as opposed to the lights on in complete view of a room full of people.
