What is a Camping Fund?
Our Troop Treasurer keeps a separate account for each Scout in his books. A Scout can earn money for the account by participating in fund raisers. Funds added to a Scouts’ account may be used to defray the costs of certain outings and/or summer camp. Typically each year the Scouts participate in a Holiday Greens (Christmas wreath etc.) sale in the Fall. • Why can’t I pay by check for camping trips? The scouts who will be purchasing the food for the trip have only 2 days to do their shopping. We simply do not have time to go to the bank, cash the checks, and distribute the money to the scouts who are purchasing the food. • What kind of gear is required for Scouts? You’ll need a uniform: • BSA Shirt (either short or long-sleeved) • 857 numerals • Red shoulder loops (epaulets) • Dan Beard Council Patch • Neckerchief (supplied by the Troop when you make Tenderfoot) • Neckerchief Slide • Boy Scout Handbook BSA pants/shorts, belt, socks, hat, etc. are welcomed but not required.
