What is a CAM or conditional access module?

0

CAM stands for Conditional Access Module. It is a device into which you can slot a smart card that allows you to view encrypted channels. Some digital boxes & TVs have a socket where you can plug in a CAM if you want to watch channels whose transmissions are encrypted. As it is only pay per view channels that are encrypted you do not require a CAM to receive Freeview. Freeview does not have any pay per view channels – all Freeview channels are free to view.
