What is a Cadet Midshipman?
A Cadet Midshipman, much the same as their college ROTC and Naval Academy counterparts are officers in training. They are Petty Officers who have distinguished themselves as true leaders, and have a drive to become a cadet officer. The training includes a rigorous physical and mental training program two days a week after school. Midshipmen wear the rank insignia of a fouled anchor, and are treated and respected as Cadet Officers. The Midshipmen are a special group of cadets, and are the future leaders of our Unit. What is a CPO Selectee? A Cadet Chief Selectee is basically the same as a cadet midshipman except that they will be pinned as the rank of cadet Chief Petty Officer instead of cadet Ensign. They are Petty Officers who also have distinguished themselves as true leaders, but have no desire to become a “stinking officer”.
