What is a Business Continuity Plan (BCP)?
A Business Continuity Plan sets out clear roles and responsibilities, for example those assigned to manage and liaise with customers, employees and the emergency services. It lists a series of contingencies that enable key business activities to continue in a variety of difficult circumstances. Those circumstances are identified and the risk evaluated, such as when a critical utility (water) or vital system or water related equipment is unavailable a plan can be activated without undue delay. Importantly, it also details clear emergency procedures to ensure that the safety of employees is a top priority. A Business Continuity Plan is a logistical plan for how a business will react, recover and restore interrupted critical functions within a predetermined time after an emergency, disaster or extended disruption. The BCP will be developed by site meetings and surveys to ensure that all relevant information is obtained; this process is on-going with an annual review to ensure that any cha
