What is a brackish water fish tank?
As most have said, brackish tanks are partially saltwater and partially freshwater tanks, meant to mimic the environment created when a freshwater river deposits into a marine environments. However what most people forget is that there are multiple kinds of brackish tank set-ups, which are meant to mimic the different three main environments created in a brackish system. The first of these environments is the estuary. In this kind of tank one would find fish like Monos or Scats. This kind of tank is better suited for larger aquariums as the inhabitants of such a tank will grow to be quite large. The second,which provides probably the greatest variety would be the Brackish river system tank. In this set-up, one would usually see Sailfin mollies, Bumblebee gobies, Celebes Rainbows, Indian Glassfish, Greenspotted and Figure-8 puffers . . .etc. The third would be a mangrove swamp setup, which would actually only be half-water with the other half being land.
