Partitions are a new concept introduced with the Borland Enterprise Server. Put simply, partitions host one or more user applications. They are the target for deployment of a J2EE application. A partition provides the J2EE server side runtime environment required to support a J2EE 1.3 application. This includes providing the Web container, EJB container, Naming service, JDataStore database, session storage and transaction coordination.
