What is a blog and why should I have one?
From Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary: “{A Web site that contains} …an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer.” Blogging provides the personal benefits of any other form of writing (recording important events or discoveries, venting, reminiscing, developing one’s own thoughts, etc.), but because it is delivered in an interconnected public space, allows for interaction and further development through conversation. Others will read your thoughts and may comment on them with their own insights, providing a forum for conversation. But even if no one comments, your thoughts become the seeds for others’ thinking. Blogging ultimately provides a way to share, and in sharing, we learn and get better at what we do. Blogging can also be a powerful marketing and communication tool between credit unions and their membership.
