What is a blip and why is it important?
A blip is an opaque, usually rectangular optical mark located below the image on the roll of microfilm. This blip mark is created by the camera to serve as a retrieval device to locate each exposure on a roll of 16mm film. It is also used for counting images or frames automatically.
