What is a blended family?
A blended family is a family where one or both of the spouses has or have children from a previous marriage. Blended family situations are some of the most difficult to plan for because when the first spouse dies, there is the potential that the children of that spouse may be disinherited by the surviving spouse. Much of the planning done for blended families is designed to protect the children or beneficiaries of the first spouse to die.
