What is a biopsy of the lining of the womb?
A biopsy is a small tissue sample taken from the lining of the womb and sent to the laboratory for analysis. This procedure will take about 5 minutes but the examination of the sample can take about one week. The procedure is performed using a fine sampling device (about 2mm in diameter) which is passed through the cervix in to the womb cavity. A sample is the removed in the device.
