What is a Biodegradable BB?
Biodegradable bb’s are often required by outdoor fields where sweeping up is not an option, conventional 6mm bb’s are a pollutant of the environment, most ordinary airsoft bb’s have a mineral center coated with types of plastic that degrade over hundreds of years, if at all. Biodegradable bb’s are made of various types of resin, often developed for the agricultural industry, and in the better makes are certified as compost able. Biodegradation can be measured in a couple of ways. The activity of aerobic microbes can be measured by the amount of oxygen they consume or the amount of carbon dioxide they produce. Biodegradation by anaerobic microbes can be measured by the amount of methane they produce while digesting the biodegradable material.
