What is a big block engine?
A big block is the size of an engine, generally reserved to represent a V -8 that displaces 340 or more cubic inches. This terminology was used in the 1950’s and 1960’s, mostly describing engines in muscle cars. With modern technology, manufacturers can build big block displacement sizes in a small block engine.
