What is a better mode of transport around Honolulu, bus or trolley?
I spent 2 months in Ohau when my husband was on temporay duty. I took the bus everywhere! I’ve actually found the bus system on Ohau to be one of the best around. I’m more comfortable taking the bus in Honolulu/Waikiki than I am driving there. I found the bus to be rather clean, not smelly, but the air conditioning can leave you with goose bumps. In Honolulu/Waikiki you’ll find a lot of other tourists on the bus, and the buses run quite frequently. You can pay $2 per ride with one free transfer, or buy a 4 day pass for $20. If you’re going to be in Ohau longer, and plan to ride the bus frequently then a monthly bus pass is a good option at $40. The bus schedules/routes are farily easy to understand and the drivers are usually very friendly and willing to help you figure out which bus you need to take and what stop you need to get off at.
