A bereavement or compassion fare is a special fare offered by some airlines in the event you must travel due to a death or a serious illness of a member of your immediate family. Airlines have varying definitions of “immediate family”, but may include spouses, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
