What is a Beadboard Headboard?
You will recognize a piece of beadboard by its characteristic grooved surface. Typically, the grooves are vertical in orientation for a paneling or striping effect. Beadboard paneling is commonly used for wainscoting below a chair rail. This style of wall treatment is most often seen in country farmhouse décor as well as other casual designs like shabby chic, French country, cottage, and Cape Cod. However, beadboard paneling is also right at home in a traditional style home. The grooved look of beadboard can be accomplished in two ways. Conventional beadboard is constructed by assembling tongue and groove boards one by one to create an evenly spaced, grooved pattern. Much of the beadboard panels found today are made by tooling the vertical grooves into a sheet of wood.
