What is a backup schedule, and why is it vital that I have one?
NetBackup is a clever piece of software, which can automate most of the work for you, but it still has to actually be told when to backup. The times that you specify for NetBackup make up your “Backup Schedule”. By default, the client may not have a backup schedule, and it is important that this is updated. To open up the dialog window ,open the NetBackup client window (either through the system tray icon, or through the “Start Menu” in Program Files, Veritas NetBackup Professional). Click on “Properties”, and go to the tab labeled”Schedule” From this dialog window, it is possible to setup a schedule that best suits your working pattern. I personally recommend different backup schedules for different people, but here are some guide-lines. • For those that only do light amounts of work, it’s fine to backup once a week during a lunch time.
