What is a backflow prevention survey?
If an existing facility has more than one water service connection, or has the potential to contaminate the City’s water supply system, the General Manager of Toronto Water may require the owner, at the owner’s expense, to conduct a backflow prevention devices survey to evaluate potential risks and cross connections that may allow backflow contamination to the public water supply. The survey shall be conducted and signed by an authorised person as well as the facility owner, and a copy must be submitted to the City by the date specified in the General Manager’s notification, or within 30 days.
