What is 1394 and/or “FireWire”?
IEEE-1394 is a standard communications protocol for high-speed, short-distance data transfer. It has been developed from Apple Computer’s original “FireWire” proposal (FireWire is a trademark of Apple Computer). Check out the 1394 Trade Association, white papers on Adaptec’s website, and DVCentral’s links for pointers to additional 1394 sites for detailed information. Sony calls their implementation of 1394 “i.LINK”.
