What involvement did Hitler have military strategy wise in world ward 2?
Hitler dominated the military, and long before the attempted assassination, he feared and distrusted the German officer corps. He replaced any general who disagreed or objected to his policies, and put in the highest command positions an abject group of Party hacks (and gross incompetents like Goering) to keep the Wehrmacht in line. Nearly every strategic and tactical decision he made was exactly wrong: stopping the Panzer’s in France to allow time for Dunkirk, stopping the British bombing just when it made have had some success, invading Russia, wasting the army by dithering and to-ing and fro-ing about his objectives in the USSR, Stalingrad and Kursk, of course.
