What interpreting services can a deaf or speech impaired client access?
Clients who are deaf and speech impaired are able to call the National Relay Service and engage the services of a Relay officer when communicating with a TAC officer. What if a client is unable to understand the TAC’s letters because of language difficulties? A client can call the TAC and have the contents of the letter verbally translated into his/her first language. How does the TAC fund interpreting services? The TAC will fund: • interpreting services in accordance with the TAC fee schedule for Interpreting Services, with the exception of services provided to a client attending outpatient treatment in a public hospital.
