what insulation materials are used?
For cavity wall insulation, mineral fibre is blown into the cavity. In cases of restricted access, polybead may be used, but this option is not always available with a discount. Cavity Wall Insulation comes with a 25 year guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA). For loft insulation, mineral wool is rolled out both between the joists and over them at a 90 degrees angle. Other insulation materials are available to DIYers (although not currently through Cocoon). Hemp, sheep’s wool and recycled paper options are effective.
