What instruments are used in blues?
The guitar, either acoustic or electric, is the primary instrument in blues. If the guitar is plugged in, then bass and drums will also be present, forming a “power trio”. When unplugged, the guitarist/singer may be alone. The guitar is often played with a slide. Harmonica is used very often as well. Horn sections, organs and pianos are all fairly common. Fiddles are not typically used, nor are banjos or mandolins usually.
