What inspired the song “50’s”?
That’s more or less just a love song. Isaac wrote it, he has a lady friend. It’s just about how exciting it is to really care deeply about someone and want to spend your time with them. Do you have a favorite song to play off the record? We all really, really enjoy playing “One of Us.” We play that and we usually go right into “50’s” and it just feels really good, like a solid eight-minute chunk of groovy-ness. It’s just fun to trance out and rock out a little bit. You guys play a game called “famous last words” to keep you entertained in the van when on tour. What else do you guys like to do for entertainment? We listen to lots and lots of music, and we read and we talk. We speculate a lot about our future. What is one book and one album that you think people should check out? I would say music-wise, the last few days of our last tour we developed a pretty big obsession over this band called The Blue Nile.
