What inspection criteria are used to provide assurance about the quality of heat-fusion joints?
The fusion joint has to be made following the pipe manufacturer’s recommended fusion procedures, which include the procedures described in PPI’s TR-4. The time-proven method used for field inspection of fusion joints is visual examination of the melt bead. Some fusion equipment manufacturers provide a data-logging unit to record critical fusion parameters.
