What innovative construction techniques are planned?
A16: Our structural engineers have been looking into several ways to reduce the overall time required for construction. One example is the use of precast-prestressed concrete cylinder piles. These piles will be cast in sections, delivered to the site, and spliced together to make up nearly 100′ long sections. Because of their size, up to 54″ wide, they eliminate the need to do multiple concrete pours in the lake. Also because they are so large, there are only a few needed at each pier which speeds their placement. These piles, which also act as long columns, are then capped and are ready for beam placement. Other rapid construction techniques that are being explored are the use of precast pile caps, and the use of simultaneous construction operations.
