What innovations has the new 1998 law on immigration introduced in regards to immigrant work?
The innovations introduced by this law in regards to work have not been substantial. The Turco Napolitano Law dated 1998 unified all the preceding laws thereby proposing a single and organic text with its relative putting into effect regime. It proposes a useful legislative recognition, simplifies the reference outline, reconfirms and systemises the programming of the migratory flows which is now regulated by a Three-yearly Program Document intended above all to establish the sums allocated to the Immigration politics. Another innovation is the Residence Paper, a document with unlimited duration which can be obtained after five years of permanence in Italy: the immigrant with this Residence Paper must no longer ask residence permission and goes towards a stable presence in Italy.
