What initiatives do you plan to implement in the areas of new programmes, etc?
What is your geographical coverage? We are trying to increase local programmes to the quality of international programmes. And much as UBC now runs as efficient as it can, our investment plan is not based on financial/ profit motives we have to consider an even and equal development and infrastructural distribution country-wide. So, instead of investing in adding more news coverage, programs, series, etc. to attract and increase our viewership in Kampala or Entebbe, Jinja, etc. we have to be rational and instead set up broadcasting stations country-wide because we’ve to serve in the interests of all Ugandans. By estimates, how many people watch TV in Uganda of the estimated 30 million people? Of that, what do you think is the percentage of people watching UBC? We know that over 1.5 million households own a TV set, and on average there are six people per household which means a total of 9 million people or 30% of the population watch television in Uganda.
