WHAT INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN A JOB LETTER?
An up-to-date job letter from an employer must be submitted to the Parole Board. The Parole Board understands that it is very difficult to find employment while incarcerated, but it is the inmate’s responsibility to find employment prior to release. The inmate’s institutional counselor cannot help the inmate find employment. The inmate may want to ask family members or friends for help in this area by contacting employers to see if they are willing to hire ex-offenders. The inmate may also want to consider contacting any past employers to see if they would consider re-hiring him/her if released on parole. A job letter should include the following information on dated company letterhead: • The name of the company • The street address of the company, including city and zip code • The business phone number • The name of the person offering the inmate a position at the company • The name of the person who will be supervising the inmate • The type of work the inmate will be doing • The numb
