Contact the Board at (800) CA-WASTE for a copy of the Metallic Discards Management Plan or for technical assistance. A Metallic Discards Task Force is currently assisting Board staff in developing literature on the proper processing of metallic discards; addressing handling requirements of units that contain special materials; identifying appliances of concern; and addressing issues regarding other special materials. Information regarding the processing of refrigeration equipment (Section 608 of the CAA) can be obtained by contacting the US EPA at (800) 296-1996. The US EPA has also published a booklet entitled Safe Disposal of Home Appliances Containing Ozone Depleting Substances (EPA 430-K-93-001).
