What information is available on the GED Testing Hotline?
The Hotline was updated during the summer of 2003 and provides some different information than was previously carried. From the automated system, testers can now obtain the date of test, the test form taken, their system-generated GED ID number, what document they will receive (diploma, passing transcript or failure notice), and when the document was issued. For the majority of testers, it is not necessary to talk to a customer service representative to obtain pass/fail results. In addition, the turnaround time for documents averages four to six weeks, so testers should be instructed not to call the GED Testing Hotline until this time period has passed, and they have not received results. We receive literally hundreds of calls a day; many are unnecessary and create long waits on hold.
