What information can Ansell provide about latex allergies?
There has been increasing concern about allergic reactions to the proteins in natural rubber, especially in the medical community. In 1991 the predecessor of our sister company Ansell Healthcare initiated a formal response to this concern through its AnsellCares program. One of their original projects was to publish Source to Surgery, a newsletter for physicians, dentists, nurses, and other health care persons who use natural rubber products. More recently, they have begun publishing In Touch, a more general newsletter for nursing clinicians and other related healthcare professionals. Other activities include distribution of medical education materials and guidelines for establishing latex allergy management programs. Although the Ansell Healthcare publications and programs are directed toward the medical community, much of the information is generally applicable to any natural rubber product, including industrial gloves.
