What influence has John Prine had on Old Crow Medicine Show?
Well, he’s given us a lot to think about. Not just about music, but songcraft. Folk music melody structure. Story telling. John has given us these songs that, when you hear about them at an influential time in your life, they become a part of you. The characters in those songs are in me. I don’t really even need to listen to old John Prine records anymore because they’re already in my head, already in my ears. But I still do! I think people who love great songs, people who love songs with that quirkiness and the real human spirit that comes through in everything that he creates musically.
