What infections can be passed from animals to people (zoonoses)?
Animals can pass on infections to a person directly. For example, if: • an infected animal bites you, or • you have contact with infected animal stools. You can also pick up infections from animals indirectly through: • contaminated water, or • contaminated food, including meat and raw foods such as vegetables and fruit.
