What industry group(s) is Alcan Packaging associated with regarding the Sustainability movement?
In an effort to put in place the standards, systems and measurements to have a common framework for assessing environmental, social and economic impacts of our activities, Alcan Packaging is working with like-minded companies within a number of industry groups. Also, we are continually building our understanding of a range of issues related to sustainability in packaging through our involvement in conferences and seminars on sustainability. For example, for the past three years, we have attended the Sustainable Value Network (SVN) meetings at Walmart and we participated in the Walmart Sustainability Expos. Some of Alcan Packaging’s memberships include: • Global Social Compliance Program (GSCP) – A business-driven program for companies that want to harmonize their practices to improve working conditions in the global supply chain. • Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) – Active in several working groups, specifically on the development of packaging sustainability metrics.
