The following six sectors comprise the Ocean Economy: • Construction, Marine • Living Resources • Minerals • Ship & Boat Building • Tourism & Recreation • Transportation The industries comprising these sectors depend on definitions of industries used for government statistical purposes. The measurement of the Ocean Economy has been developed at a time of transition between the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). The NOEP data are provided using NAICS definitions for all years from 1990 on. Data are also available in SIC for 1990, 2000, and 2001 for comparison with other data sets.
