What in the World is Happening to Beer?

Written By: What in the World is Happening to Beer? Compiled by Rex Halfpenny You would have to be living the life of a reclusive hermit not to notice the growing popularity of fizzy fruit flavored beverages being sold in the beer coolers all across America. But I was really struck by the phenomenon when we had over two dozen of them entered into the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth a couple years back. I don’t think the judges I assigned to evaluate those entries have forgiven me to this day. At the World Beer Cup in Seattle I was honored to judge a variety of different beers, Specialty Beer, Rye Beer, Leicht Beer, Fruit & Vegetable Beer, Specialty Honey Beer, Wood-and Barrel Aged Beer, Experimental Beer and Scottish-Style Ale. The hardest of these were the more normal beers, the Leicht (European-Style Low Alcohol) and Scottish, another low alcohol style, because there just is not much to these kinds of beers and everything, however slight, stands out. I really enjoyed the honey beer
