What in the World Are the Benefits and Challenges of Using HO Scale Model Trains?
One train hobbyist may prefer a toy model train that runs through an outside garden. Another train hobbyist may have tons of space for spreading-out a huge set of train tracks while someone else may have smaller space but prefers to fill it with a couple different scale train tracks. To accomplish all of these different needs, toy model train manufacturers have created different sizes of trains. The most popular size of the larger scale trains is size O. The scale for the O size is 1/48th. This means it’s one 48th the size of a normal sized train. The gauge for O is 1 1/4 inches. Several of the larger sized train set-ups are used in outdoor gardens. This of course doesn’t satisfy the needs of all hobbyists in the train world. The HO gauge is 1/2 the size of the larger-sized O scale. HO stands for “Half of O”.
