What impact will the development project have on water usage in Scotts Valley?
Aviza met with the Water District in July 2007 to discuss what impact the re-zoning and development project would have on water usage in Scotts Valley. Based on our meeting with the Water District, we concluded that the development project would not negatively impact the community. In fact, there would be ample water supply to support the Citys town center plans and surrounding neighbors as well. Avizas property has excess of 60% of the total water supply in the district. Currently, Aviza pumps out over 50 million gallons of water per year from its wells and uses about 18 million gallons of water per year, which could easily support the approximate 175-225 homes proposed for this site. Based on current output by wells located on Avizas property, we believe there is an excess amount of water that could support the new Town Center and provide additional water to Scotts Valley residents.
