What impact does the ECJ European Court of Justice have on the English Legal System?
It has no impact on the ENGLISH legal system, as it is not a part of it. The ECJ exists to determine issues relating to the EU, its treaties and its governance. As the UK is a member of the EU, it is subject to the determination of the ECJ, but only in relation to those issues. There is also provision for the English courts to refer a question to the ECJ for an opinion in relation to how EU law applies in a given set of circumstances.
