What impact does purchased service credit have on the liabilities of the pension fund?
When actuaries perform STRS Ohio’s pension fund valuations, any liability for purchasable service credit is not reflected in the results until the credit is actually purchased. For example, the liability incurred by members purchasing credit during a fiscal year is reflected in that year’s valuation, but not before.
