What impact do White Tailed Deer Have on the Ecosystem?
White Tailed Deer are everywhere, There are more Whitetail today then when the settlers first arrived to North America. The impact that they have is both eco and social. On the ecosystem they feed on crops,over populate and spread diseases not only from one deer to another but also to humans an other animals. The social impact would be the sheer numbers of White Tail Deer and the ever growing collisions with automobiles. With the loss of many of North American Predators the Deer have run unchecked. Agriculture has also played a role in the surge of Deer population. White Tail Deer love what is called edge effect, where field meets crop or crop meets woods. Urban sprawl has encroached upon many of the habitats for animals including the White Tail Deer and you can see them feeding on gardens right in the middle of town.
