What impact do phase change materials have on the thermal contact resistance ?
Phase change materials eliminate the thermal contact resistances at the contact surfaces almost completely, right after the first rise in temperature over the phase change temperature. In this case the total thermal resistance can be approximatively calculated through the division of the paths lengths (equals the material thickness) by the thermal conductivity of the interface material.
