New Hampshire’s preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2009 was 6.8 percent, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the May rate, which was unchanged with revision. The June 2008 seasonally adjusted rate was 3.7 percent. Seasonally adjusted estimates for June 2009 placed the number of employed residents at 688,020, a decrease of 5,480 from the previous month and a decrease of 23,180 from June 2008. The number of unemployed residents increased by 1,630 over-the-month to 50,090. This was 22,610 more unemployed than in June 2008. From May 2009 to June 2009, the total labor force decreased by 3,850 to 738,110. This was a decrease of 570 from June 2008. The unadjusted June 2009 unemployment rate for New Hampshire was 6.8 percent, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the May rate, which was unchanged with revision.
